Our Protocols for Health, Safety and Hygiene

Our Protocols for Health, Safety and Hygiene

Published June 21st, 2020 By Jo Stewart

These are the following practices that we will be applying to help as all stay safe as a community. Following these guidelines is a condition of attending any of our in person classes. Please be aware that we do have people attending with compromised immunity and err on the side of caution and community care.

We ask you to:

Stay home if you experiencing any symptoms of illness or have been in contact with some who has COVID 19. You can always do one of our online classes instead.

We follow the current government regulations regarding masks, which means they are optional rather than mandatory. Please feel free to wear a mask if you feel more comfortable with that extra layer of protection.

Practice social distancing and cough/sneeze etiquette while at the studio - cough or sneeze into a tissue or elbow and wash your hands afterwards.

Wash or santise your hands on arrival and as necessary throughout your sessions.

Allow everyone who has finished a class plenty of room to leave the studio, and time for us to clean before entering.

Bring your own mat, towel, and any other small props (blocks, straps/theraband, peanut) that you like to use during the session to avoid sharing equipment where possible (we do also have props here in the studio but aim to minimise sharing where it is possible and practical).

Book in - with limited spaces in each class, bookings are essential and it also allows us to keep a record of who is in each session.

As always, practice mindfully, listen to your body and carefully come out of any posture that is causing pain or discomfort. Always let the instructor know of any injuries or pre-existing conditions. Please be aware that we are unable to offer hands on assists in our aerial yoga classes so seek verbal assistance if you are experiencing any confusion.

We will be:

Cleaning the studio regularly

Cancelling any sessions if we feel unwell.

Reserving personal hammocks, blocks and mats for members and month pass holders and resting shared hammocks for 72 hours between uses (current DHHS recommended protocol) plus spraying with an 80% alcohol based sanitiser.

Selling personal props like peanuts and therabands to avoid sharing equipment.

Minimising sharing yoga mats (we do have studio mats if you need one).

No longer providing shared water - please bring your own water bottle.

Throughly sanitising (and taking out of circulation) studio blocks and foam rollers between use.

You will need to a towel to cover bolsters (or buy one of our bolster covers) before using.

Limiting participant numbers in each class to allow social distancing.

Not using any hands on assists in our classes unless there is an urgent safety reason.

In Aerial Yoga classes, when raising or lowering hammocks, we will ask you to step away from the hammock while we make the adjustment. At the end of the class, tie a knot in your hammock so we can easily hang it up to rest.

Encouraging cashless transactions, bookings will be online only and we have a square reader for any card purchases within the studio.

We have also invested in a HEPA filter for the studio. Hospital based studies have shown the HEPA filters remove airborne virus particles (give it a google to find out more). They also filter out dust and allergens.
