Introducing our new heat packs!

Introducing our new heat packs!

Published October 30th, 2024 By Jo Stewart

Soothe your neck, back and period pain with our new heat packs!

We are both heat pack devotees - Rane uses his for neck and shoulder pain, Jo uses hers for period cramps and we both use them as a hot water bottle alternative. We even have a video suggesting ways you can integrate them into your yoga practice. We love using them for heat, but you could also pop these packs in the freezer to use for cold (apparently this works great for headaches). We used to just use the same bag shape for all of these functions, which made for some awkward draping and rearranging scenarios to get the benefits - our new range has some fantastic designs that you can wear as you move around!

Heat packs work great alongside self massage, you can use them before as a gentle 'warm up' for sensitive areas - or use after your self massage practice to enhance the benefits. You can also use the heat pack on one area, while you massage another - like a DIY hot stone massage experience!

Our heat packs are all made in Melbourne with all natural materials and some beautiful and functional designs. Our shop items are pick up only, so feel free to take a look when you are next in for a class, or make a time to collect.

How heat can help relieve back pain

Heat packs feel soothing for your aches and pains, but there is also an evidence base for their efficiency. Applying heat to muscles can cause the blood vessels to dilate, improving circulation and promoting healing. The heat sends a sensation message to the nerve endings in the targeted area which can override pain signals to the spinal cord. Applying heat as an early treatment can help prevent mild lower back pain from progressing into chronic lower back pain and reduce the need for pain medication needed for both mild and severe back pain. Obviously check in with your doctor if you are experiencing pain, or if you aren't sure if heat is an appropriate treatment for your injury.

Heat Pack for Neck Pain

Made from cotton and lupin, and designed to nestle around your neck and shoulders as you work or rest. You can also unfold it flat and lay on it (perfect for a restorative yoga scenario). Choose from a water colour blue arches pattern or black.

This one already has some fans 'Ahhhh…these are great! Bought the neck/shoulder one last night and used it at bedtime…so nice…perfectly weighted around the neck and shoulders I could walk around with it and it didn’t fall off!'

Heat Pack for Lower Back Pain

Made from cotton and lupin, this heat pack is designed to wrap around your lower back or belly and tie in place as you move around - you could definitely tuck in under a big jumper or hoodie if you wear it out and about. We also discovered that it makes for a great (and cosy) leg weight for pilates moves!

Choose from black or a fabulous lavender cockatoo print

Big wheat bags

We also have some long, loose wheat bags that you can use everywhere - including draped over your shoulders, or tucked around your lower back while you sit in a chair. These ones are also great to use instead of a hot water bottle in bed and come in the lavender cockatoo print, or green arches pattern.
