Adrenal Healing with Gina Macauley

Adrenal Healing with Gina Macauley

Published February 25th, 2019 By Jo Stewart

Would you like to learn more about the Adrenal System and how to take care of it?

‘You’re running late for work, you push the snooze button a few too many times, you’re running 10 minutes behind, you rush to work but you make it - you’re not late, you settle in and your stress levels drop back down to normal’.

Sound familiar?

This is a healthy response, and how our adrenal system is designed to work, but the problems start when we are running a little behind every day, when you always have a bit too much on your plate, and this over-stimulated and hyper-aroused state becomes your everyday reality - as does that debilitating feeling of deep tiredness, that is often described as ‘burn-out’.

Rane and I first learned of Gina Macauley’s Adrenal Healing workshop when we spoke to her for the Flow Artists Podcast - and after that conversation we both felt like we needed to learn more about the Adrenal Fatigue Kriya and start practicing these movement and breath sequences on a regular basis!!

Gina is based at YogaHara in Bendigo, so we were delighted when she agreed to come to Melbourne and teach her Adrenal Healing Workshop here at Garden of Yoga!

Want to know more?

I sure did - so I asked Gina a few questions about the Adrenal System and her workshop…

How does our adrenal system work?

Our adrenal glands, located above the kidneys, produce a number of hormones that help us to control blood sugar, regulate blood pressure, metabolise fat and protein and respond to stressors.

What is adrenal fatigue?

Adrenal fatigue happens when our adrenal glands firstly overwork and then begin to underwork, not producing the minimum levels of certain hormones for every day functioning.

What are some of the life-style factors that might contribute?

There are many however stress is one of the major factors with diet being another.

Why is this workshop important?

This workshop will talk about the factors involved in adrenal fatigue and will share a yoga based practice to help deal with some of the factors and support the adrenal glands

What do you enjoy most about teaching it?

I love teaching yoga in general but specifically this practice because of its wonderful power to support people to be well. The entire practice only takes 35 minutes to complete.

Are these practices accessible to everyone?

In terms of yoga experience, yes even people new to yoga can come and learn this practice. In terms of accessibility, the practice can be done in a chair for those with limited ability to get on the floor.

Where do these practices come from?

The practice was developed by Leigh Blashki from his 40+ year journey of Yogic self-healing, teaching and consulting and is informed by the work of many of his teachers including AG Mohan, Swami Gitananda and Sri V. Yogendra. He shared it with my 10 years ago and I have been practicing and sharing it ever since.

What can we expect to get out of this Workshop?

This workshop will teach you a simple, yet profound series of Yoga practices (Kriya) aimed at overcoming stress induced tiredness and burnout, or adrenal overload.

You will leave with a valuable resource that you can explore personally to improve your wellbeing. If you are a Yoga teachers you will also be able to use it to assist others for whom chronic tiredness has become an everyday experience. The cost also includes an online video of the practice.
