We are celebrating the one year anniversary of Vinyasa Playlist tomorrow night (7.15-8.45pm)! It’s been such a fun and inspiring class to teach so far- with musical input from Rane (he’s making his 30th mix right now) and energetic input from everyone on the mat! This week there are lots of our musical favourites going into the mix including Marom by EarthRise SoundSystem, i will be sequencing some of our favourite asana- like pigeon and handstand, into the flow- let me know if you have any special requests!

Pilates for Yogis has been running a little longer, and i’ve got lots of exciting (and challenging) new magic circle exercises tomorrow night 6-7pm!

If you are free this afternoon come along to my newest class at Dance of Life, Nurture Restorative Yoga, from 2.30-4pm we’ll melt into deep stretches, rejuvenating pranayama and guided relaxation.

Isaac Cordal is a Galician artist whose work is often found out on the streets of urban centres. In this installation ‘Cement Bleak’ he uses regular kitchen colanders in which to craft faces which are then installed in public spaces. The result are eery shadows of anonymous faces as you pass along the sidewalk. Not unlike the faces we pass every day in an urban environment.

Using manipulated lace patterns, formalised through alchemical symbolism this series attempts to illustrate a a temporary moment of continuity; a state George Baitialle believed could only be experienced in death or through sexual climax.

A triptych of embroideries sewn without thread, and mounted onto a light source allowing the pin holes which would normally be concealed to become filled with light exposing the sharply punctured surface and creating an almost cosmic surface.

My theme for this week is the Koshas- the layers of awareness or energy sheaths that surround the physical body. Each layer is increasingly subtle and more sattvic. More core focused in Pilates for Yogis at 6-7pm, and more flowing and dynamic in Vinyasa Playlist 7.15-8.45pm Monday night- all at Dance of Life. A save the Astor (iconic 1930s art deco Melbourne movie theatre) campaign has begun in light of news that St Michael’s private school - who own’s the building which is then leased back to “The Astor” theatre - plans not to renew the lease ending in 2015. Additionally it’s rumoured the school will, after a five year cooling-off period during which everyone is expected to forget about the whole thing, then use the theatre for private plays and to house a uniform shop - in direct opposition of their touted “community spirit”.

A free screening of Labyrinth and activities like jaffa rolling will be held on Saturday June 16. Come along and show your support!
